5 Tone Roger beep Questions

#45265

Post by ironfoof »

Ok, I have this very used 5 tone roger beep. I am extremely too far from a cb shop and I do most of my own repairs and modifications. I have a very basic form of instructions on it but a missing link. Here it is...

Blue......audio pin on mic socket
black.....ground
red........"ON" side of switch
green....TX pin on mic socket wire
yellow...TX pin on mic socket
orange.. SPST switch to ground

Several questions I have on this. I am very familiar with the radio. Its a Connex 3300hp. I installed a micro "on/off" toggle switch on the radio.

Blue.... I cut the audio wire and installed the blue wire on the mic jack
pin side.

ground. I just installed to a chasis ground

red... as listed I installed to the on side of my switch

green..tx pin on mic socket wire

yellow... tx pin

orange.. spst switch

ok with all this info. the cut audio wire goes where?
and spst switch -ground do I install a ground wire as well?

thx in advance. Ironfoof

orange.. SPST switch to ground ...

just a guess on my part, you said 5 tone beep, so would spst be the selector switch? and the switch goes to ground? i am guessing a momentary sw... anyways, all guesses and I am sure someone else knows...

As I understood my Workman kit you don't remove the existing audio wire, you just add the blue wire to the existing audio circuit to "inject" the tone.
I just went round and round with these kits on a couple of different radio's and to be quite honest with you they deliver a lousy tone. If your looking for that import big beep sound your wasting your time, you won't get it.
I just had my radio worked at one of the sponsors shop and inquired about the roger beep kits. I got the same answer from a professional. They deliver a lousy tone that I wouldn't be satisfied with. The wiring in the kits is inferior to the radio wiring.
If you want a big beep get an import radio, otherwise I think you'll be very disappointed.

The other guys right, you don't take the audio wire from the socket, just add the beep wire to it..

we have these beeps in the UK..
as yes they do sound **Censored**..

but it's hard to find all the noise toys you guys have..

there is one guy in the UK that makes his own end on TX beeps with great effect using audio chips..

but thats for another day..
