Help with SBE Console V (SBE-40CB) AM/SSB base NO xmit or receive
Hi all, I was given a good looking SBE Console V (SBE-40CB) AM/SSB base station. It turns on and all lights up, squelch control will make the meter move as it is supposed to when adjusted but I have NO output and NO receive and NO sound. When I key the mic I hear the relay click over to transmit but there is NO output on AM or SSB. There is No sound (tried ext speaker and headphone jack as well) and when I hook up my antenna to it there is no meter movement so I know it's not just the sound missing, it does not receive. I am using a mic from a Galxy DX-2547. Hopefully someone out there is familiar with this radio and may have experienced this problem and can tell me what to look for. Thanks for any help. Adam

Hey, long time no see!
A couple things, being a relay radio it shouldn’t need a mic plugged in to receive but not always the case. A radio that has been sitting and who knows where , probably could use a squirt or2 of contact (deoxit d5) on all the potentiometers and one at a time (note the position) give them each a couple of turns back and forth to clean them up. The only other thing I can think of the reason it had been given away is the final is blown, pretty sure it used a 2sc1969 transistor but check first.
Best to look through the forum for more ideas and info on that particular radio, some members might even have a Sam’s photofact for it that could PDF you a copy.

Did you check to make sure the microphone you are using is actually wired correctly for this radio?

Have you checked the unit for an "out of lock" condition in the PLL

Hi, I wound up giving the radio away as I did not have the knowledge to fix it. Thanks to all that responded. Adam
