Field day is a great place to learn about emergency radio set ups in the field and launching portable antennas. They will be having it all over the country Saturday and Sunday. They will be in public places like state parks, etc,. etc, so if you see a sign anywhere, stop and check it out. It's a great place to learn what people do to get out on low power and it can also be applied it to 11 meters if you go out to a park, beach, etc. etc. The ARRL has information on their website or you can google ARRL field day.
