TRC-521 Mods?

#47468

Post by MistaEko »

I know not everyone's down with the Radio Shack units, but does anyone know of ways to boost the juice coming out of my TRC-521? And, if so, is that someone the average guy could do with good instructions or is it something better left to a shop?

Also running a Wilson Mag500 antenna (54") with it. I know RS sells a 102" stainless steel whip, but I have no idea if the two will mate up.

it something better left to a tec to do

i dont know how ya fell about drilling holes in the side of your van for a ball mont for a 102'' whip but it would get out better than that wilson 500 sitting on your bumper i guess you could mont the 1o2'' whip off the back bumper

Well, the Wilson's on my roof, not bumper. The bus is fairly rusty, so I'm not against a few more holes.

lol ok got ya mix up with the other vw bus guy

na up grade your antenna to a wilson 1000 mag mont with all that sheet metal that van has for a roof is a good ground plane

a 102'' will not work on the wilson 500 base

Good to know for when the next decent paycheck comes through. :) Yeah, loads and loads of sheetmetal on an early bus!
