VFOs/Sliders
VFOs/Sliders
Can you user the old Siltronix/Pal vfo/sliders with newer radios? I know that newer radios(export) have more bands and frequency available but how can you get more in between without going to a modified ham radio? Also why do you have to use different model vfos with different radios? I think I understand wht they do and if so why certain models for certain radios when they do the same thing? HELP me undertand

Hey Jughead.
From what I understand.... (the key word is understand :D ) the Siltronix lineup was offered for different radios in different megaherts. I'm not a tech so I don't fully understand this but that is the difference. I can dig up a name of a guy in California that has Siltronix manuals and send it to you or you can check EBay as he sells vfo's and the like there.
From what I gathered, any of the same 90 vfo's can be easily changed to any dash number by opening the case and following the manual instructions. I opened my -1 and it looked pretty simple inside. The manual appears to be as invaluable as the hook up cable!!!!!!!
