All you need are the right conditions, talk all over the world bare-foot if the skip cycle (solar flare activity) is right. Good time to be into cbs', as it's starting to cycle again. Gonna be smokin'.

Technically as long as the conditions are right, you can shoot skip with anything; but when it's rolling' the more power you have the better.

Here's some suggestions of what a good skip setup would be:

Base on the cheap:
2950DX on Power Supply
Palomar Super Base 500 Base amp
A-99

More Expensive Base Setup:
Astatic Silver Eagle
RCI 2985DX
East Coast 2x4 Base Amp
Coily Enforcer .64 wave base antenna
OR
Signal Engineering 4 element Cubical Quad on rotor

Mobile AM Skip Setup:
General Lee
RK-56
East Coast 2x4
Predator 10k

Mobile SSB Skip Setup:
RCI-2950DX
Texas Star DX-1600V
Predator 10k

It really all depends on how much money you have. Hope to hear you out there in dx land!
