Cobra 148GTL low power on SSB high power on AM

#59589

Post by captron »

I have a Cobra 148GTL that dead-keys 4watts & swings to 10 watts on AM but only has 8-10 out on SSB. I tried to increase the SSB power out by turning up the SSB ALC but it still will not do more than 10 watts on SSB. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Thank You for your help if you know. 10 watts is a little low but its not all that bad since a Cobra 148 is only supposed to put out 12 watts stock out of the box.Has the radio ever been professionally peaked and tuned?I am guessing not, perhaps its time to take her in for a tune up.Shawn

Shawn is right I would look for a good tech.

There are some great guys here. I haven't used them but I see a lot of guys love their radios.
