Painting battery cables
Has anyone ever done this?
If so, what paint would you recommend?

I've never heard of doing it. It is probably not that great of an idea.
If you look around you can find power cable in lots of different colors. You can also get flex loom and other mesh materials that can cover the wire.
Let me know what color you are trying to get and I'll see what I can find for you.

If you are looking for a decent 4 or 2 gauge welding cable, you could go down to your local Tractor Supply and pick some up there. They even have the ends that you would need. Be careful what paint you use. As the oil based or spray paint types have chemicals in them that will melt or at least cause the insulation to be very easily nicked or stripped.
