I also was wondering if anyone else has one of these scanner if they have had trouble recieving some police barracks, i can hear every state trooper in the state of maine but i cant hear the Orono barracks that well unless its really cold out or its before normal people wake, around midnight to 5:30 am i can hear great, anyone else seem to have this trouble, or is it just crowded airwaves

I just got one of those. I'm still trying to figure it out. The user manual is about the most useless thing I've ever seen. I'll keep messing with it and let you know if I figure it out. Have you ever gotten the "Bear Tracker" thingy to work? (the loud beep and blinky light that turns on whenever a police's mobile extender is activated within 3 miles of you) Despite it's complexity, its a pretty cool scanner.

I've got a BCT8 and I love it. I'm in MA and our SP is trunked too. I don't have any real problems with receiving them (that I know of). I can hear cars all over the state with it. I use the ARC8 software by Butel to program it. Works Great! So much easier than doing manually at the radio.
I just wish the radio had alpha tags so I know what channel I'm listening to. (I've got 'round 100 different frequencies that I'm scanning at any given time).
Anybody use the BCT15? I'd like to know what people think of that one.

I have the bct15 in my truck and i love it. I use my laptop to program it...i don't even have to take the scanner out of the truck. also, the scanner is the same width as the cobra 29's and uniden 78's..so i use an extra long mounting bracket and mount both on that..looks real sweet. i think you would be happy with it

All you need is a standard RS232 Serial Cable and a serial port on your computer. You plug the scanner into the computer, turn on remote mode and select your baud rate (refer to BCT8 Manual for instructions) and then run the software. You can program freqs, trunking mode, talk groups, and you can even control the scanner through the computer.
